If you need help with personal, family, or farm employee issues, contact these resources:
- 988, the Suicide Prevention Hotline that is available 24/7 to all callers
- Do an online search of the words: Farm Crisis Hotline in (here, list your state). Many agricultural states offer services to farmers, ranchers, and others; most are not available 24/7 but many offer counseling vouchers for professional services
- 1-800-FARM-AID (1-800-327-6243). Farm Aid has a team of operators who are well-versed in agriculture (some are former or current farmers). The Hotline is answered live Monday through Friday from 9am – 9pm ET; 6am – 6pm PT. The Spanish Hotline is answered Monday through Friday, 9am – 5pm ET. If you call outside of regular hours, you'll receive a call back the next business day.
- American Farm Bureau Federation’s Farm State of Mind campaign raises awareness about mental health challenges faced by farmers and ranchers across the US. It provides access to services that include peer support with free professional counseling follow-up if needed, a national resource directory, on-demand training and guidance for confronting opioid misuse.
